Unitec repair couplers are CARES approved
· Site assembly with standard impact wrench.
· No need of bar end preparation.
· Readily available off the shelf.
· Ideal for concrete-embedded bars, repair and retrofit works, bent bars, etc...
· Type 2 splice as per ACI 318 requirements. Complies with BS 8110 and NF A35-020 standards.

Q: what is the full range of diameters available?
A: Unitec repair couplers are avaiable in 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40mm from stock. 50mm can be ordered.
Q: are Unitec repair couplers approved in the UK?
A: yes, Unitec couplers from ø12 to 40 mm have CARES approval TA1-B 5046
Q: what other codes do Unitec repair couplers comply with?
A: TA1-B: EC2 and BS 8110 for static applications in tension or compression with BS4449 grades B500B and B500C reinforcement.

Q: can Unitec repair couplers be installed using a manual wrench?
A: yes, on a limited number of couplers a hand wrench can be used with a compatible socket (M12, M16 & M20).
Q: what other installation equipment could be used?
A: if significant amount of Unitec repair couplers are to be installed, a standard pneumatic impact wrench can be used, with a compatible socket, such as Ingersoll Rand, Atlas Copco, Metabo, Toku.
Q: do I need to follow an actual torque to shear bolts?
A: no, given torque values are indicated to be average.
Q: is the use of an electric nut runner recommended?
A: no, this kind of equipment is dedicated to fine mechanical installation such as flanges, which require an actual torque value to be controlled.
Q: if the site is equipped with an MBT electric nut runner can I use it with Unitec repair couplers?
A: yes, only the socket on the 1” drive needs to be adapted from MBT imperial bolt dimensions to Unitec metric bolt dimensions.
